Sometimes I have to paint some mundane everyday kind of things, sadly its not always space ships explosions and alien worlds in this field...

that said i decided to practice on a regular simple living room concept with different lighting scenarios and apply different techniques I have learned lately. It was good practice and still fun rendering things out and studying the materials and what not.

Lately I have been doing a lot of large scenic type paintings so I think i am going to do a few indoor paintings for some practice in my free time now.. definitely a sci-fi one next

Modo Fire Extinguisher practice

first 3D model made in Modo and rendered out in Keyshot for practice. Love Modo's artist friendly UI and it is excellent for making fast models to use in my work and ties nicely with Keyshots simple UI and workflow.

I plan on using these techniques to help in my vehicle paintings and interior paintings for my 2D art in Photoshop. Hopefully it will be a huge help in the long run for my paintings and matte paintings in the future.

Sunset piece I made for fun just playing around and testing a few techniques. I had no idea where i was going with this but i saw a clip of the lion king and it hit me right there and then to turn this into a safari sunset... giraffe and all. More later

This painting was really fun freelance project of a sci-fi cityscape floating around on giant panels, had to do a little research on what an Oneill Cylinder was because I never heard of it and I am a huge fan of sci-fi. Love getting lost in these worlds.

Trip to Santa Barbara

Took a trip to Santa Barbara recently for the Imadinari Chalk Festival and got to take part in it with a few buddies. Good weekend, first time painting with chalk since the elementary school days so it was interesting. The heat was killer being in the sun all day but I had lots of fun, also got to do a quick acrylic plein air painting near the beach.

Finally get to update my blog, heres a little something ive had laying around for about a month or two. I am currently freelancing for a new film project. Its an exciting project with lots of very cool sci-fi elements. I am currently doing enviornment concepts and learning the in's and outs of matte painting and camera mapping. Learning lots of new tricks, and having good times finally getting paid to do what i love. Hopefully I will get to update my page again sometime soon, if not sorry guys it just means im slaving away in the dungeon.
